M1 Junctions 39 to 42 statutory instrument

The Highways Agency proposes to improve the M1 by making it a ‘managed motorway’ between Junctions 39 (Durkar) and 42 (Lofthouse Interchange).

Managed motorways help relieve congestion by using the hard shoulder as a running lane and using technology to vary the mandatory speed limits.
