Enabling power
The President of the Supreme Court makes these Rules in exercise of the powers conferred by section 45 of the Constitutional Reform Act 2005. In accordance with section 45(4) and (5) of that Act the President of the Supreme Court has consulted the Lord Chancellor, the General Council of the Bar of England and Wales, the Law Society of England and Wales, the Faculty of Advocates of Scotland, the Law Society of Scotland, the General Council of the Bar of Northern Ireland, the Law Society of Northern Ireland and such other bodies representing persons likely to be affected by the Rules as the President of the Supreme Court considered appropriate.
