The Merchant Shipping (Maritime Labour Convention) (Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations 2026
These Regulations implement certain amendments made to the Maritime Labour Convention 2006 by making amendments to the Merchant Shipping (Maritime Labour Convention) (Minimum Requirements for Seafarers etc.) Regulations 2014 (S.I. 2014/1613) (“the Minimum Requirements Regulations”) and the Merchant Shipping (Maritime Labour Convention) (Recruitment and Placement) Regulations 2014 (S.I. 2014/1615) (“the Recruitment and Placement Regulations”). The relevant amendments to the Maritime Labour Convention 2006 were approved at the 110th session of the International Labour Conference on 6th June 2022. The Regulations also make consequential amendment to the Merchant Shipping (Fees) Regulations 2018 (S.I. 2018/1104) (“the Fees Regulations”).

Enabling power
The Secretary of State, with the consent of the Treasury, makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 84A(1)(a), 84B(4)(a) and (c) and (5) to (7) and 302(1) of the Merchant Shipping Act 1995.
