The Electricity (Criteria for Relevant Electricity Projects) (Transmission) Regulations 2024
Section 6C of the Electricity Act 1989 (“the Act”) gives the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority (“the Authority”) the power to make regulations in respect of competitive tenders for any “relevant electricity project”, which is described in section 6BA(1).

Enabling power
The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 6BA(1)(b) and (5) of the Electricity Act 1989. In accordance with section 6BA(6) of that Act, the Secretary of State has consulted the Authority, such holders of relevant licences as the Secretary of State considers appropriate, and such other persons as the Secretary of State considers appropriate.
