Eskdalemuir seismic array: revised approach to managing onshore wind turbine interference

In response to stakeholder feedback, we are extending this consultation until 5 August 2026.

We have now published supplementary information which you can find on the Scottish Renewables website. The purpose of this supplementary information is to inform more detailed responses; it does not change the core policy proposals or questions set out in the consultation. 

What has changed

• publication of Annex 14: The 2026 Algorithm (hosted on Scottish Renewables)
• publication of Annex 15: Headroom and Seismic Impact Limit (SIL) Calculations Explainer (hosted on Scottish Renewables)
• question 14, as set out in the consultation, has been added to the online survey
• minor edits to the consultation document have been made, to (i) update the closing date, (ii) clarify that the ‘revised algorithm’ referenced in paragraph 2.4 of MOD’s safeguarding approach is the 2026 algorithm detailed in Annex 14, subject to consultation feedback and MOD acceptance, and (iii) include references to the new annexes
• an additional question has been added to the online survey, at the start of the consultation form, to ascertain which consultation responses are new or updated/additional responses

This consultation aims to gather industry and stakeholder views on the suggested changes to the secondary legislation and planning guidance for managing the onshore wind turbine interference surrounding Eskdalemuir seismic array.
