Legislate to give funeral processions legal right of way
Amend the Road Traffic Act 1988 to protect funeral corteges. Make it an offence to cut into a procession or overtake it in built-up areas, and require drivers to give right of way at roundabouts and junctions to corteges if safe to do so and to advise them refrain from overtaking.

Background
Disrupting corteges often causes distress to grieving families and can create a severe physical danger for funeral directors paging (walking) in front of the hearse. All emergency service vehicles should continue to have priority. We believe laws are needed to ensure the safety and dignity of the funeral staff and the families.
