Do not bring in the new Ecodesign Regulations on tumble dryers in the UK
Don't make heat pump tumble dryers effectively the only new models legally permitted for sale. The proposed ban undermines the purpose of the UK Right to Repair Regulations. Set up an independent taskforce of experienced appliance engineers to assess the cost/benefit ratio of the ban on UK consumers

Background
Heat pump tumble dryers require an ambient temperature between 5°C and 35°C to operate efficiently. The optimal room temperature to prevent extended drying times is between 19°C and 24°C. During winter a machine in an unheated garage or outbuilding can multiply drying cycle times or stop it from functioning. These dryers can also be far more expensive to repair than standard condensers, if the heat exchanger becomes clogged or compressor fails. We believe this ban will only benefit manufacturers & not the British people.
