Allow Category D licence to drive private motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes
We think licence holders of a full UK Category D driving licence should be able to drive privately owned motorhomes exceeding 3.5 tonnes without requiring separate Category C1/C entitlement, subject to standard medical requirements.

Background
In our view category D drivers have often already demonstrated the competence required to operate large vehicles safely on public roads, for example many buses and coaches exceed the size and weight of private motorhomes. We believe existing licence rules should better reflect proven driving competence and remove unnecessary duplication of testing for private motorhome use.
