Joint targeted area inspections
A joint consultation document from Ofsted, the Care Quality Commission, HMI Constabulary and HMI Probation.
This joint consultation is on the proposals for the delivery of joint targeted area inspections under section 20 of the Children Act 2004. Inspections under section 20 are arranged and led by Ofsted. Each of the inspectorates will continue their single agency programmes of inspections of child protection and/or safeguarding.
This is a joint endeavour between:

- Care Quality Commission
- Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary
- Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Probation
The consultation questionnaire should be read in conjunction with the consultation document. Both documents can be downloaded from this page. Each document is available in two formats:
- the Word version of the questionnaire can be filled in by hand or on your computer
