NHS pension scheme draft regulations 2015: part 3
Seeks views on draft regulations that complete the legal basis for the proposed reform of the NHS pension scheme for England and Wales.
The Department of Health wants views on draft regulations that complete the regulatory basis for reform to the NHS pension scheme, England and Wales, as required by the Public Service Pensions Act 2013
The transitional provisions regulations provide transitional arrangements that will apply to existing members of the scheme from 1 April 2015. This instrument covers the arrangements that will apply to members who will move to the 2015 scheme from that date.
The amendment regulations introduce new provisions that are a consequence of scheme reform, including:
- restrictions on future membership of the 1995/2008 scheme
- the circumstances in which members are entitled to remain in the existing 1995 or 2008 sections of the NHS pension scheme from that date
- contribution rates
- new contractual redundancy retirement entitlements
The consultation document and notes explain the purpose and effect of the draft regulations. The document should be read in conjunction with the draft regulations, and those relating to the proposed 2015 NHS pension scheme.
Regulations that put in place pension scheme changes are subject to final agreement by health ministers and HM Treasury.
