Detail

The Policing Protocol was introduced in 2011. The government consulted on updating it, following a recommendation in Part 1 of the Police and Crime Commissioner Review.

The new protocol will:

  • clarify the boundaries of operational independence between organisations responsible for policing
  • reflect changes in the relationships between them

This will ensure they can work together effectively to cut crime.
