Sought to identify the best way to implement a new duty for Ofcom to report on the UK communications infrastructure every 2 years
Last fetched 03 May 2026 · gov.uk
Detail
Sought views on the government proposals to grant additional powers for Ofcom to help them assess resilience in the UK communications infrastructure. These proposals would help Ofcom to report on the UK communications infrastructure to government every 2 years, building on commitments set out in the ‘Digital Britain White Paper’.
The consultation proposed that Ofcom should be provided with additional powers to direct companies to:
- report to Ofcom on risk assessments and emergency planning
- test emergency plans and participate where necessary in government testing of national response plans for telecoms
