Cost recovery for oil and gas consents
Seeking views on DECC's proposal to recover costs for issuing oil and gas consents.
Last fetched 03 May 2026 · gov.uk
Detail
The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) sought views on proposals to recover the costs of its services in issuing consents under:
- petroleum production licences
- offshore methane gas and carbon dioxide storage licences
- Pipeline Works Authorisations issued under Part III of the Petroleum Act 1998.
The consultation document gives a more detailed explanation of the nature of the consents we propose to charge for, a further explanation of the suggested methodology for calculating a fee, and indicative indications of what that fee may look like.
