Enforcing the EC Regulation on Cosmetic Products
Seeks views on draft Cosmetic Products Enforcement Regulations 2013, relating to safety of cosmetic products made available in the EU.
Seeks views on the draft Cosmetic Products Enforcement Regulations 2013, which will enforce Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009 on Cosmetic Products.
The regulations apply to all cosmetic products that are made available on the EU Market after 11 July 2013. The draft regulations create enforcement powers, offences and penalties within the UK, as required by the EU regulation.
The offences, penalties and enforcement provisions of these draft regulations are broadly similar to Cosmetic Products (Safety) Regulations 2008, which they replace, and the Consumer Protection Act 1987. However, it has been necessary to expand the offences and penalties to reflect the slightly broader scope of the offences in the EU regulation.
