Consultation concerning a 2nd round of applications from harbour authorities to be designated with the power to give harbour directions. This currently relates to:
- 5 English harbours (
- 1 Welsh Harbour
Welsh fishery harbours powers must be designated by Welsh ministers.
The authorities applying are:
- Exeter City Council
- Neath Port Authority Council
- Plymouth City Council
- the Duchy of Cornwall
- St Mawes Pier and Harbour Company
- Torbay Council
The first consultation of harbour direction powers ran from 15 December 2014 to 16 January 2015.
The Secretary of State mechanism to designate harbour authorities was given in the Marine Navigation Act 2013 which amended the Harbours Act 1964.
