The consultation is an important part of the process of introducing the revised WEEE Regulations that are expected to come into force from 1 January 2014.

Next steps

We aim to publish a government response within 8 weeks of the consultation closing date (21 June 2013).

We will take views of all stakeholders into account. If there is support for reform of the UK WEEE system under the options set out in the consultation document, we will consult further on draft regulations.

We intend to lay the final version of the Regulations before Parliament to come into force from 1 January 2014, when the old Regulations will be revoked. We aim to publish the UK government guidance notes for the new Regulations at least 10 weeks before that date.
