Detail

Under the Health and Social Care Act 2012, Monitor and NHS England must publish a statutory consultation on the national tariff payment system and ensure that the following groups are informed of this and invited to take part in the consultation:

  • ‘relevant providers’ – that is, any provider of NHS services in England that are subject to national prices
  • clinical commissioning groups
  • any other organisations or people with a specific interest or involvement in the pricing system

There is also a formal statutory process for challenging one component of the proposals - the proposed method for determining national prices.

Anyone interested in pricing may respond to this part of the consultation, but only responses from clinical commissioning groups and relevant providers will be used in the calculations under this statutory process.
