The Registration of Births and Deaths (Welsh Language) (Amendment) Regulations 2024
These Regulations amend the Registration of Births and Deaths (Welsh Language) Regulations 1987 (S.I. 1987/2089) (“the Welsh Language Regulations 1987”). The amendments are consequential on amendments made to the Registration of Births and Deaths Regulations 1987 (S.I. 1987/2088) and prescribe the manner of registration and the information required to be registered by the registrar on receipt of a confirmed attending practitioner’s certificate, or a medical examiner’s certificate given to the registrar in accordance with regulations made under section 20 of the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 (c. 25).

Enabling power
The Registrar General for England and Wales makes these Regulations with the approval of the Secretary of State in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 20, 22(2), 23, 23A(1) and (3), 33A(2) and 39(1)(a) of the Births and Deaths Registration Act 1953as extended by section 26(3) of the Welsh Language Act 1993.
