The Recognition and Enforcement of Judgments (2019 Hague Convention etc.) Regulations 2024
The 2019 Hague Convention (“the 2019 Convention”) was signed on behalf of the United Kingdom on 12 January 2024. It will enter into force in respect of the UK on the first day of the month after the end of a period of one year beginning on the date when the UK ratifies it.

the 2020 Act The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(1), (9), (10)(a) and (12) of, and paragraph 4(2)(d) of Schedule 6 to, the Private International Law (Implementation of Agreements) Act 2020(“”), and with the consent of the Scottish Ministers and the Department of Justice for Northern Ireland. The Secretary of State is an appropriate national authority for the purposes of section 2 of the 2020 Act. In accordance with paragraph 2 of Schedule 6 to the 2020 Act, the Secretary of State has consulted such persons as the Secretary of State thinks appropriate. In accordance with paragraph 4(2)(a) and (d) of Schedule 6 to the 2020 Act, a draft of this instrument has been laid before, and approved by a resolution of, each House of Parliament.
