The Motor Vehicles (Type Approval) (Amendment) Regulations 1986
These Regulations amend the Motor Vehicles (Type Approval) Regulations 1980 by substituting a consolidated Schedule 2 for the existing Schedule 2, which has been four times amended since 1980. That Schedule is further amended by including in item 9 of Part I, alternatively to the existing requirements relating to the braking devices of certain categories of motor vehicles and their trailers, the requirements of Council Directive 71/320/EEC as amended by Commission Directives 74/132/EEC, 75/524/EEC, 79/489/EEC and 85/647/EEC. Part II of Schedule 2, which relates to the approval of recording equipment in road transport, is amended to refer to the requirements of Council Regulation 3821/85. References to spent directives and regulations have been deleted. Three of the amending instruments (S.I. 1982/1623, 1984/1927 and 1985/1072) are now spent, and are revoked entirely: in the fourth amending instrument (S.I. 1982/7), the regulation which amended Schedule 2 is revoked.
