The Merchant Shipping (Prevention of Air Pollution from Ships) and Motor Fuel (Composition and Content) (Amendment) Regulations 2014

These Regulations implement Directive 2012/33/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21st November 2012 (O.J. L327, 27.11.2012, p.1) which amends Council Directive 1999/32/EC (O.J. L121, 11.5.1999, p.13) as regards the sulphur content of marine fuels (“the Directive”).

Enabling power

The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(2) of that Act, articles 2 and 3 of the Merchant Shipping (Prevention of Air Pollution from Ships) Order 2006, article 2 of the Merchant Shipping (Prevention of Pollution)(Law of the Sea Convention) Order 1996, and section 128(5) and (6) of the Merchant Shipping Act 1995.
