The Intellectual Property Act 2014 (Commencement No. 4) Order 2015
This Order is the fourth commencement order made under the Intellectual Property Act 2014 (c.18) (“the Act”). It brings into force on 6th April 2015 sections 10(2) to (11) of the Act. Section 10(2) of the Act is already in force only to the extent necessary to appoint the appointed person (S.I. 2014/1715). This Order gives full effect to new sections 27A and 27B of the Registered Designs Act 1949 (c.88), which introduces a new route of appeal against decisions made by the registrar relating to designs. Users now have a choice of using either a person appointed by the Lord Chancellor (an “appointed person”) or the High Court.
