The Digital Economy Act 2010 (Appointed Day No.2) Order 2012

Article 2 of this Order appoints 1st May 2012 as the day on which the provisions mentioned in paragraphs (a) to (c) of that article come into force. Section 41(1) of the Digital Economy Act 2010, and paragraphs 2 to 4, 6 to 9 and 10(2) of Schedule 1 to the 2010 Act, make amendments to the Video Recording Act 1984 so that a new authority may be designated under section 4 of that Act as the authority responsible for making arrangements in respect of video games. The Secretary of State will lay a proposed designation for the “video games authority” before both Houses of Parliament and in accordance with the procedure specified in section 5 of the 1984 Act.
