These Regulations amend the Social Security (Crediting and Treatment of Contributions, and National Insurance Numbers) Regulations 2001 (S.I. 2001/769) to disapply the requirement to apply for a National Insurance number in the case of a person in respect of whom the Secretary of State or the Commissioners for Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs are notified that a biometric immigration document is to be issued under regulation 13A of the Immigration (Biometric Registration) Regulations 2008 (S.I. 2008/3048 as amended by S.I. 2015/433) (“the 2008 Regulations”). Regulation 13A covers cases involving an application for entry clearance. There is already a similar disapplication for cases where a biometric immigration document is issued under regulation 13 of the 2008 Regulations.
