Section 34 of the Justice and Security (Northern Ireland) Act 2007 enables the Secretary of State to make codes of practice in connection with the exercise by police officers and members of Her Majesty's forces of a power conferred by that Act. The Secretary of State has made a code of practice under section 34 which is entitled “Code of Practice for the Exercise of Powers in the Justice and Security (Northern Ireland) Act 2007” and which was laid before Parliament on 13th May 2013. This Order brings that code of practice into force. The code of practice can be downloaded from the Northern Ireland Office website.
