This paper contains labour market figures for parliamentary constituencies, as well as a summary of the latest national and regional statistics.
- The number of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance or not in work and claiming Universal Credit increased by 4,600 between August and September 2015, to 796,200.
- The unemployment rate was 5.4% in June-August 2015. The ILO measure of unemployment was 1.77 million people, down 79,000 from the previous quarter and down 198,000 from the previous year.
- The number of people in employment was 31.12 million in June-August 2015, up 140,000 from the previous quarter and up 359,000 from the previous year. The employment rate was 73.6%, the highest since comparable records began in 1971.
- Average weekly total pay in Great Britain increased by 3.0% in the three months to August 2015 compared with the previous year. Regular pay (excluding bonuses) grew by 2.8%. CPI inflation averaged to 0.1% over this period.
