The National Security (State Threats) Bill was formally introduced in the House of Commons through its first reading on 9 June 2026.
The Government has determined that "the powers in this bill should be made available as soon as reasonably practicable", and as such, all stages of the bill are due to take place on 17 June 2026 in the House of Commons. MPs will consider the bill through second reading, committee stage, and third reading on this date.

The billThe National Security (State Threats) Bill, as introduced, would make provision for the designation of bodies involved in foreign power threat activity to create offences relating to bodies designated under the Act and for connected purposes.
