Tanzania: 2020 presidential election
A general election was held on mainland Tanzania and the semi-autonomous Zanzibar on Wednesday 28 October 2020. As well as electing a president and vice-president, the electorate also voted for members of the National Assembly.

President John Magufuli was declared the winner by election authorities, securing a second (and final) five-year term on a landslide 84 per cent of votes.
There has been criticism of the way in which the election was conducted and the two main opposition parties have suggested the poll was fraudulent and have demanded a rerun.
