Support for Refugees after Receiving Asylum Decision
A Westminster Hall debate on Support for Refugees after Receiving Asylum Decision is scheduled for Wednesday 4 March 2020 at 2.30 pm. The Member leading the debate is Thangam Debbonaire MP.
Asylum support may be provided to asylum seekers while their claim for asylum is being considered. The support is provided under section 95 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999.
Asylum support ends a few weeks after the final decision has been made on the asylum claim. Research has demonstrated that this ‘cliff-edge’ makes people who have been through the asylum system particularly vulnerable to homelessness and destitution, regardless of whether they have been granted asylum.
The library has produced a debate pack for this debate which is available to download below.
