The purpose of this debate is to discuss recent trends in employment growth.
Over recent years there have been increases in both the number and the proportion of people who are in employment.
32.26 million people were in employment in December 2017 to February 2018. This is the highest level since comparable records began in 1971.
The employment rate was 75.4% in December 2017 to February 2018. This is also the highest rate since comparable records began in 1971.
