Constituency data: Public sector employment
This page provides constituency-level data on the number and percentage of public sector employees in Great Britain.
Employee data is workplace-based, so shows the number of employees working rather than living in each constituency.
A high number and proportion of public sector employees in an area may reflect the presence of a large public sector employer (for example, if the constituency contains a large hospital).
The public sector figures include employees working in central government, local authorities and public corporations but do not include HM Forces.

NotesData at a local level is less reliable because of small sample sizes. This means that small differences between years or between constituencies could be due to survey error.
Data updatesThis data is updated in September each year.
