Background
We believe the current petitions process is flawed because it does not result in MPs voting on the request of a petition. The petitions process was suspended for 5 months in 2024 due to a general election. Debates are usually held once 100k signatures are reached but we think these rarely result in change. We think that only petitions containing offensive content should be removed. We also feel that character limits in the current process can make it difficult to articulate what action you want the Government to take.
