To celebrate 30 years of the DDA remove the steps entering 10 Downing St
To celebrate 30 years of the DDA & to show more can be done that the step from pavement to the path of 10 Downing Street and from here into the house are permanently replaced by flat thresholds. At the moment temporary ramps are put out, these do not provide good access & demeaning to visitors.

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for. Decisions about installing a ramp at are a matter for Downing Street, rather than a decision about policy or legislation that is made by the Government or Parliament. You could start a petition which calls for all Government buildings to have an entrance ramp, and use Downing Street as an example.

Background
5-12-95 the DDA was passed now part of the Equalities Act. Yet 30 years later full and equal access to society hasn't been achieved.
Wheelchair users should be able to come and go from Downing Street as anybody else.
People think you cannot make heritage buildings accessible and therefore do not try, however the law actually encourages making heritage accessible. If Downing Street is seen to make remedial changes then other owners will.
Previous ministers for the disabled have promised this.
