We would like you to provide immediate, ring-fenced funding to NHS Wales health boards to recruit newly qualified midwives from the 2026 cohort.

“Require clear, transparent communication from HEIW and health boards about job availability and workforce planning. Align training with workforce planning.
Ensure that commissioned training places are properly aligned with actual workforce capacity to prevent this situation happening again.”
