Require all schools and academies to record and report data on SEND pupils who are removed from lessons or placed in behaviour rooms or internal exclusion, including how often this occurs, how long pupils are removed, and what support or reasonable adjustments were attempted first.

According to statutory guidance from the Department for Education, governing bodies of maintained schools and the proprietors of other schools already must ensure that a procedure is in place for recording each seclusion or restraint incident as part of the school’s duty under the Schools (Recording and Reporting of Seclusion and Restraint) (No. 2) (England) Regulations 2025. This must be recorded and reported.
