Require care workers to have advanced level of English language proficiency
We call for higher standards in English language for care workers. We think there should be a minimum of 1 year's training, working alongside a fully experienced carer, including an English test with no multiple choice questions. The elderly need to be able to understand what is being said to them.

Background
I find it worrying that people with such low levels of English that they cannot understand food packaging or read medication labels may be trusted to care for the elderly.
