Reform gambling self-exclusion systems to better protect vulnerable people
Allow banks and other firms to verify self-exclusion status (with consent); introduce stronger penalties where operators breach self-exclusion; create longer default in-person exclusion periods; and require all schemes to offer a nationwide self-exclusion option.

Background
Self-exclusion only works if it is enforceable. Currently, only gambling operators can verify status, potentially limiting protection. Breaches can result in consequences which we feel are limited, and in-person schemes vary by region and duration. Stronger enforcement, longer default exclusions, nationwide coverage, and controlled third-party verification (with consent) could close gaps and better protect vulnerable people from preventable gambling harm.
