Background
Musicians and composers depend on royalties more than ever, especially as live music revenues have declined since COVID. Allowing AI systems to learn from their work without consent or pay undermines their creative rights and livelihoods. Music is not just data—it is the unique and often recognisable expression of individual artistry, and it should be protected from exploitation by emerging technologies.
