Protect free access to the Lake District and any other national park.

I want the Government to prevent local authorities from being able to introduce a vehicle levy/tax on vehicles visiting national parks. This comes after the Lake District National Park Authority (LDNPA) are planning to work closely with the next Mayor to introduce a vehicle tax to visitors.

Background
Access to the countryside should remain free to everyone, regardless of background or income. Visitors already contribute through paid parking and local spending. The outdoors provides proven mental and physical health benefits. This should not be put behind a pay barrier. Introducing additional charges risks creating barriers, particularly for those from lower income communities and could prevent people from experiencing the life changing benefits of time outdoors.
