Stop the permitted development right to extend upwards
We urge the Government to stop the permitted development right to extend upwards. We think this policy benefits developers & freeholders, harming leaseholders & residents, causing financial, structural, & emotional strain. Meant to ease housing shortages, we think it is now a profit-driven scheme.

Background
We think these developments could:
- Undermine building safety, creating both risks during building works and long-term risks.
- Devalue flats, leaving leaseholders financially trapped.
- Raise service charges.
- Disrupt daily life, causing noise, dust, and restricted access, ruining residents’ well-being.
- Prioritise profits over communities, neglecting local needs.
This petition urges the Government to protect leaseholders, property rights, and communities from exploitation and disruption.
