Background
People can be filmed by doorbell cameras as they walk down their own streets, then that footage can be used to by the company who made the doorbell camera to build AI tools which those filmed may never have consented to. We think that this is unfair and undermines trust in both technology and neighbours. In our view home security should protect homes, not turn the public into unpaid test data, and we do not think the law has kept up.
Parliament should set clear limits so people’s faces, movements and daily routines cannot be used for AI training without real permission and proper safeguards.
