Introduce a minimum trainee teacher wage equivalent to Teaching Assistant salary
We want the Government to introduce a minimum trainee teacher wage that is equivalent to a Teaching Assistant salary. Many trainees work full-time while paying £9,250 in fees, making teaching inaccessible for many. We believe this could ease teacher shortages and the financial strain on trainees.

Background
Full-time trainees work in schools while paying £9,250 in fees, leaving many in financial hardship. We believe this could discourage talented individuals from entering teaching, worsening teacher shortages. We believe a minimum trainee wage equivalent to a Teaching Assistant salary could make training more accessible, reduce financial stress, and help recruit and retain high-quality teachers. We believe the Government must act now to support future educators and protect education standards.
