Ban surveillance systems that can enable the suppression of organised resistance

Large-scale systems whose physical capabilities could, in the wrong hands, enable the mass identification of dissenters and the suppression of dissent—or prevent people from organising to remove oppressive governments—must never physically exist. If such systems already exist they must be dismantled

Background
Our UK society has long solved its problems without mass surveillance and it can continue. Laws banning uses aren’t enough. Governments change. History shows any tool of control will be misused. Instead, such systems must be banned from physical existence to avoid the «we won’t misuse it» trap. It includes systems able to: –detect whereabouts (e.g. mass facial recognition) –scan private messages –impose digital ID –link all online activity to verified identity –enforce a cashless society etc.
