Background
We think secondary school students have limited access to structured activities which can lead to boredom, disengagement, and missed opportunities to develop important life skills. We believe work experience programmes could allow students to gain hands-on experience in areas such as construction, hair and beauty, catering, childcare, and other trades, helping them build confidence, responsibility, and practical skills. This should be conducted within safeguarding and child employment laws, with suitable limited working hours.
