Give all uk classroom assistants the option to spread their pay over 12 months!

Many term‑time classroom assistants, including temporary staff, can’t spread their pay over 12 months, while some schools already allow it. This creates unfair differences. We want all classroom assistants to have equal access to this option for financial stability.

Background

Classroom assistants play a vital role in children’s learning, wellbeing, and inclusion, yet many face financial strain because their income is restricted to 10 months. Temporary staff are hit hardest, while some schools already offer 12‑month pay. This inequality undermines stability and retention. A fair, consistent option would protect staff and support the children who rely on us.
