Extend the NHS mandatory training to include rare and complex medical conditions
Many patients with rare, complex, or chronic physical health conditions are being dismissed in the NHS because they do not have learning disabilities. Existing training like the Oliver McGowan programme does not address their specific care needs.

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for. Decisions about training delivered in the NHS are a matter for the NHS, not the UK Government or Parliament.

Background
We’re asking for mandatory training on rare and complex conditions, named care coordination, and a national review of transition to adult services. Training should include carers and NHS staff together to improve understanding, respect lived experience, and stop unsafe dismissals.
