The City of London Corporation voted on 26/11/2024 to cease the trading of the Smithfield Meat Market. We wish for this decision to be reconsidered and ultimately overturned.

Background
The market area is billed to be transformed into a “mix use cultural development”.
This seems to completely ignore the fact that the market has a long 900 year history and is itself a historic part of British culture.
Not only this, many traders, small businesses and individuals rely on this market as a source of income and stock. Many businesses will simply close because of this decision - hardly politics for economic growth!
