Background
We are concerned that Disabled students in schools and colleges are routinely failed by institutions that do not meet their legal duties under the Equality Act 2010 and Children and Families Act 2014. Education has no independent body to inspect SEN provision or investigate complaints. We feel Ofsted does not adequately scrutinise SEN support. Students can lose opportunities, qualifications and university places as a result. We believe an independent SEN Commission would provide accountability and enforcement.
