Commit to Protect Rights to EOTAS/EOTISC for Children & Young People with SEND
In any SEND reforms, maintain the legal right to education other than in school for children & young people whose needs mean no school or college placement is appropriate. Retain the SEND Tribunal’s power to order EOTISC and specify the provision required for a child’s individually assessed needs.

Background
EOTISC (Education Otherwise Than In School or College) allows children and young people with SEND to receive education when a school or college setting is not suitable. It is intended to enable tailored provision based on professional assessment of each child’s needs.
Without this safeguard, some children with SEND who cannot safely or effectively attend formal settings may struggle to access education.
We ask the government to commit to protecting EOTISC to help ensure vulnerable children are not left without appropriate educational support.
