Change the standard method for assessing local housing need to reflect real need
The NPPF insists on a method to calculate housing need that is not fit for purpose. It appears designed just to result in a target housing number in any given area that does not reflect the true, real need based on tangible issues such as population, demographics, etc.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to change in the current system. You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to change.

Background
Planning is being negatively impacted by this standard method of calculation. This can lead to the wrong level of development in particular areas. Local areas know better than a formula what their local needs actually are.
